Just off Main Street, Carrick-on-Shannon, St. George’s Heritage and Visitor Centre holds all the stories and history of the beautifully restored St. George’s Church and the local famine Workhouse. A visit to these sites begins at the visitor centre, adjacent to St. George’s church, where the story of Leitrim, its landscape, its history and the hardships faced by its people during the 1800s is introduced in an audio-visual presentation.
