Moon River Cruiser
When in Carrick-on-Shannon, this is a wonderfully relaxing way to explore and experience the River Shannon. Moon River Cruiser is found at the quayside, just across from Cryan’s Hotel. During the 1 hour cruise the skipper will share stories and his local knowledge of the river and it’s banks, you’ll also be treated to a song or two as you cruise the beautiful waterways. There are light refreshments available on board.
Aura Leisure Centre
A short stroll (or brisk walk!) from Cryan’s Hotel, you’ll find Aura Leitrim Leisure. Here you can enjoy a range of activities for families and individuals. Their facilities include; 25m Pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Steam Room & Gym.
St. George’s Heritage & Visitor Centre
Just off Main Street, Carrick-on-Shannon, St. George’s Heritage and Visitor Centre holds all the stories and history of the beautifully restored St. George’s Church and the local famine Workhouse. A visit to these sites begins at the visitor centre, adjacent to St. George’s church, where the story of Leitrim, its landscape, its history and the hardships faced by its people during the 1800s is introduced in an audio-visual presentation.
Jump Street & Carrick Karting
Sometimes the little ones just need to burn off some energy! Whether you are visiting Carrrick-on-Shannon for the day or for your family staycation, Jump Street is a great amenity for the younger members of the family. There’s also something for the older members with the in-door karting. This nearby indoor amenity, offers Go-Karting, Dodgeball, Foam pit, Basketball, Jump Box & Wall Trampolines.
Costello Memorial Chapel
The Costello Memorial Chapel, just across from the gates to Carrick-on-Shannon's Market Yard, is said to be the smallest chapel in Europe and the 2nd smallest chapel in the world. And just like the Taj Mahal, it is a testament to a man’s love for his wife. In 1879, a wealthy merchant Edward Costello built it as a memorial to his wife Mary Josephine who died aged 46. The remains of Josephine (1889) and of Edward who died in 1891 are both interred in this beautiful memorial.
The Dock Arts Centre
Home to a 100+ seat performance space, three art galleries, artists’ studios and workshop space, The Dock Arts Centre is found in the heart of Carrick on Shannon. It is housed in the beautifully restored 19th Century former Courthouse building. It is home to The Leitrim Design House where you can browse and shop for locally crafted goods and The Jury Room Café where you can relax and enjoy a light snack.
Carrick Cineplex
Just across the bridge, a few minute’s walk from Cryan’s Hotel, this multiple award-winning, four-screen boutique independent cinema is a great escape on those wet afternoons and evenings, also the ideal place to relax after a busy day exploring! Checkout their site for up to date listings.
Mulvey Centre, Bowling & Kidz Kingdom
There are many great things about holidaying in Carrick-on-Shannon – there is simply so much to do! Whether the weather is good or not, there is no shortage of activities for everyone on the family – young and old alike. Found in the heart of town, just a stroll through the park from Cryan’s Hotel, The Leitrim Design House is recommended by the Craft Council of Ireland as one of the leading craft and design outlets in the country. This home of Leitrim design, art and craft is found in The Dock, a beautiful 19th century Courthouse building, located in the heart of Carrick-on-Shannon. Representing over 250 artists working in ceramics, glass, paper, wood, textiles, metal and jewellery, the Leitrim Design House offers its visitors the very best in design, contemporary craft and visual art. It is a must visit for any shopping trip to the North West!
